Where once the Yeerks lived, there is now a lack of any space-capable race. Nothing remains of the Yeerks but desolate, empty Yeerk pools, long since destroyed by the Andalites. Here and there a Ghedd roams, along with other creatures that inhabit the planet, but none are capable of the Yeerk's level of technology.
